Travis Lee Wiggins is a musical madman. Since starting the solo indie project Essex Chanel in 2005, he’s compiled an enormous catalog of music under the moniker, including 11 full-length albums, 2 EPs, and a few other conceptual releases. Well, last week Essex Chanel released its 250th song, “The Good Times.” And as usual with the act’s new music, the song is free to download through Essex Chanel’s site.

“The Good Times” is an extension of the 2009 release, Love is Proximity, a 42-track collection of charming, lively melodies and dense, varied instrumentation. The spirited folk-pop song incorporates trumpet, jangly banjo, rapid vocals, and a healthy amount of hand clapping. And, as Wiggins says, this new track is the first in the collection to incorporate clarinet, tuba, and sax, with the help of a backup band.

Along with his 250th track, Essex Chanel is offering free downloads of a shitload of other music - its entire discography, actually - through the end of the year. Since Wiggins takes influence from a spectrum of genres, shifting between folk, classical, pop, rock, electro, and dance with each album, his massive catalog has something for everyone. Besides, if it turns out Essex Chanel isn’t your cup of tea, it’ll only cost you a few clicks and some bandwidth.
