Looks like public television is going to have a hit on their hands with Roger Ebert's "At the Movies" revival. "Roger Ebert Presents At the Movies" will premiere Jan. 21 in 192 markets and be available to military personnel through the Armed Forces Network.
The reconstituted show will feature primary hosts, AP film critic Christy Lemire and former New York Times film critic Elvis Mitchell, with contributions and guest hosting duties from noted film bloggers Kim Morgan and Omar Moore. Best of all, the program will use the "thumbs up/thumbs down" review format that was copyrighted by Ebert and popularized by him and the late Gene Siskel.
When Ebert announced the new program and cast in September, he sounded energized by the return of the program to its public television roots. "This is the rebirth of a dream," he said. Ebert will also contribute to the program with a segment called "Roger's Office," focusing on new, overlooked and classic films.
"Roger Ebert Presents At the Movies" will be filmed in Chicago.
