"One for the Road:" The Dells
Today we look at the pride of Harvey: the Mighty Dells.
Whenever we find "The Five Heartbeats" playing on television, we have to stick with it for a good half-hour. The movie, about success and struggles of a Temptations-style vocal quintet, is arguably Robert Townsend's finest work as a director and holds up well nearly 20 years later. The plot could also be about the Dells, who contributed one of the soundtrack's highlights with "Stay in My Corner." Check it out when you have a chance.
In the meantime, we managed to find an amazing cover by the Dells of the Jimmy Webb classic "Wichita Lineman" which sounds intended for sexing.
