Bourbon Pairings with the Whiskey Professor and Jim Beam's Kid

Sound like this would only happen in an absurd alternate universe? Not so, since it could be you sampling bourbons over a four-course feast, sharing conversations with the "Whiskey Professor" and the great-grandson of Jim Beam on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at Schubas.

The dinner-drink event, hosted by Schuba’s Harmony Grill and Eater Chicago, will feature a four-course dining experience with bourbon inspired and infused dishes. Bourbon-candied peppers? Whiskey Vinaigrette? Chocolate bourbon sauce? The adventurous uses of bourbon make us curious and hungry.

At hand to guide you through the dinner will be two whiskey legends: Bernie Lubbers, Worldwide Whiskey Ambassador of the Year and the Whiskey Professor, and Fred Booker Noe III, great grandson of Jim Bean and international bourbon ambassador. Lubbers, a veteran comedian of 25 years, can tell you of the intricacies of bourbon-making, from the milling and mashing, to the distilling and barreling. Noe, trained under his father, Master Distiller Booker Noe, has dedicated himself to perfecting the family’s closely guarded bourbon-making process, and will share the Beam family craft of whiskey making and the rich history of bourbon.

The bourbon dinner event will take place on Tues., Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are available in advance for $47 at schubas.com.

Schubas is located at 3159 North Southport Avenue.
