Target Close to Signing Lease for Loop Store

2011_1_24_target.jpg A Target store in the Loop has been rumored for months. Chicago Real Estate Daily is reporting the Minneapolis-based retail giant is close to signing a lease for a downtown location in the Carson Pirie Scott building.

If the lease is signed, Target would occupy 120,000 to 140,000 square feet of space, adding to the revitalized retail offerings downtown in recent years promoted by Mayor Daley. It would also be a needed shot in the arm for developer Joseph Freed & Associates. Freed has faced a series of recent foreclosure lawsuits, including Block 37. Freed is reportedly also close to signing leases for the Carson Pirie Scott building with DSW warehouse and Manhattan-based City Winery.
