Do This: New Holland "Envious" Release Party at Mrs. Murphy & Son's Irish Bistro

2011_2_16_envious.jpg A couple years back we had the opportunity to taste out a beer at New Holland that was fermented with Michigan pears and champagne yeast, slumbered in oak and local raspberries to add tartness, that was a revelation. At the time, brewmaster John Haggerty said that they had no long range plans for the beer aside from seeing how it would develop. Later, at the Publican, New Holland Beer dinner that featured the biere de garde Paul Kahan and Publican beer director Michael McAvena brewed at New Holland, guests also had the chance to sample that same beer.

That beer is now known among beer aficionados as "Envious" and is part of New Holland's "Cellar Series." The 2010 vintage will be released at a tasting at Mrs. Murphy & Son's Irish Bistro, tomorrow night from 6-9 p.m. It is one of the more unique beers we've ever tasted and any time we get the chance to sample it again, we take advantage of it.
