Meet Timothy Hercog, readers. This unemployed man was arrested and charged with intimidation of a public official today. The public official who is the source of Hercog's rancor? 14th Ward Ald. Ed Burke.

According to the charges, Hercog called Burke's ward office twice last Sunday to complain about the sidewalks in his neighborhood needing repair. Which is all fine and dandy; we've called our ward office before for similar complaints. But a call Hercog made to Burke's office Wednesday left little doubt that, if he did vote, it probably wasn't for Gery Chico. Hercog said in the message that he was glad Rahm Emanuel was elected mayor, “Rahm is going to get Alderman Burke out," then allegedly said Burke better keep his police detail "or he'll be dead." Hercog then doubled down with a little bit of racism and said that "every white in the ward wants to kill" Burke.

Hercog is now being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
