Cubs Looking for New Public Address Announcer (Apply Online)

By Chuck Sudo in News on Feb 28, 2011 6:40PM

Hey Cubs fans! Want to have the chance to see all 81 home games? Do you have a good speaking voice, dreamed of announcing the starting lineup and can speak clearly like Pat Hughes? Are you able to ignore the carnage on the field while reading sponsor copy? Then you should apply for the now-open Wrigley Field public address announcer position.

Here are just a few of the requirements:

  • Strong vocal talent, excellent enunciation skills

  • Strong public speaking skills and ability to speak extemporaneously to large crowds

  • Strong knowledge of baseball

  • Must be available for all Chicago Cubs 81 regular season home games, makeup games, tie breaker games, play-off games and non-game day events. Schedule includes nights, weekends, non-traditional hours and holidays, as needed

Anyway, the Cubs are taking applications through next Monday, and wouldn't it be a pisser if they hired a Ron Santo-type?
