$15 3-Course Lunch at C-House. Eat That, Restaurant Week!

By Anthony Todd in Food on Mar 3, 2011 5:00PM

Restaurant week thinks it's so special, with its discounts and its 200 participants. In fact, it's so special, it's been extended. Whatever - you can do better than $22 for lunch. C-House has a lunch deal that beats R-week with one hand tied behind its back, and it happens every day. The 1,2,3 lunch includes 3 courses, chosen from the regular lunch menu, for only $15. We visited earlier this week, and have some suggestions for your order.

C-House, Chef Nicole Pederson's (we think) under-rated restaurant, offers some of the best food in the Michigan Avenue area. Recognition is trickling in - C-House got two stars from Pat Bruno last week, and he called it "a sea of good taste." The lunch special is a chance to try some of that food at a great price. For your first course, you can order anything off of the appetizer menu - soup or salad. The potato and cheddar soup with fried cheese curds is a great starter on a cold day, otherwise have a small werp farm baby lettuce salad. For a second, you can have any sandwich on the lunch menu. Our pick? The lobster club with bacon and avocado, normally $15 by itself. This decadent sandwich, with an extra slice of buttered bread, has enough calories to keep you going all day, so be prepared for a very happy food coma. We were less impressed by the salmon burger, which was substantial but a bit bland and deserved a great sauce. Every sandwich comes with fries. The full menu is here.

For dessert, try anything off of the "Candy Bar" menu, filled with decadent little bites. Honestly, we couldn't finish our dessert. If you have a bigger appetite than we do, be sure to try the toasted marshmallows, which are custardy, gooey and exactly what you need to make your co-workers jealous that you found this great deal.

C-House is located in the Affinia Hotel at 166 E. Superior Street.
