Last-Minute Plans: Brute Neighbors Book Release at Lincoln Hall
Brute Neighbors is a project from the DePaul Humanities Center, in collaboration with DePaul's Poetry Institute and the DePaul University Institute for Nature and Culture, that focuses on our relationship with urban nature, the synergy between the natural and the man-made, and that the two aren't as separate as one would think.
The book is a mélange of poetry, prose, and photography. With 60 artists contributing to the project, including local literary heroes such as authors Stuart Dybek and Reginald Gibbons; S.L. Weisberg; slam poetry godfather Marc Smith, poets Marc Turcotte and cin salach; author Michele Morano; journalist and author Miles Harvey; and Poetry magazine editor Christian Wiman. All of this is deftly edited by DePaul's Liam Heneghan and Chris Green, who spearheaded the project
DePaul's Humanities Center is hosting a launch reading and party for Brute Neighbors this evening at Lincoln Hall from 6-8 p.m. The event is free to the public.
