Stephanie Izard, Mindy Segal and Bill Kim discuss the wonders of cooking with peaches and pork at Chicago Gourmet.

Eater Chicago is reporting that Stephanie Izard (pictured here at Chicago Gourmet 2009 with Hot Chocolate's Mindy Segal and Urban Belly/Belly Shack's Bill Kim) is in the works to open an East Coast-style diner steps down from the Girl & the Goat. Izard tells Ari Bendersky:

"Growing up in Connecticut, we always went to the diner after the bars or in the morning [for breakfast]," Izard said. "There were diners everywhere. Everyone went to diners. There just doesn't seem to be diners in Chicago.

"I want it to be like 'moons over My Hammy' and shit."

Plans are for the 100-seat diner to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, have menus with pictures of the food being served on them, and be more rooted in classic diner style than the mashups she's currently serving at G&G. The diner (working name: The Little Goat), will have the classic diner counter with red leather swivel stools, a private dining room, and G&G's bread program will move there once it opens.
