Rare Garfield Goose Video Discovered

2011_3_17_garfield_goose.jpg Per Robert Feder, Rick Klein of the Museum of Classic Chicago Television has obtained 10 minutes of Garfield Goose and Friends from 1971. That sigh you imagined was actually us.

An anonymous donor gave Klein the tape, recorded on an early video reel-to-reel machine. It's in black-and-white, although WGN was broadcasting the show in color by the time the December 1971 episode aired. Klein tells Feder that this is a major discovery. "You can pretty much count on one hand the amount of Garfield Goose clips that still exist," he said. Klein has posted a 2-minute clip from the video already with plans for the full footage later.

We're with Feder and Klein here. This clip brings back memories of when we could walk home from school for lunch and mornings enthralled by Garfield Goose, Frazier Thomas and Ray Rayner. But then, we have a deep nostalgic streak.
