A Texas-based anti-abortion group unveiled billboard ads on the South Side Tuesday featuring the face of President Obama and the tagline, “Every 21 minutes our next possible leader is aborted."

The campaign by the group Life Always is specifically geared to the South Side to draw attention to the disparity of black women seeking abortions. Life Always plans on erecting 30 of the billboards, featuring a play on the color scheme of the iconic Shepherd Fairey "Hope" Obama image. Residents and abortion rights advocates protested the billboards Tuesday, but were countered by Texas minister and Life Always board member Stephen Broden and his bullhorn, saying abortion is "threatening the very survival of our community" and the Supreme Court's majority decision in Roe v. Wade has led to a decline in the African American population.

Between the play on the Fairey "Hope" color scheme and the placement of the ad at 58th and State, it's nice to see anti-abortion groups aren't beneath racial profiling to further their message.
