Wacker Drive Construction Update: Randolph Intersection Rebuilding Starts Tomorrow

By Chuck Sudo in News on Apr 14, 2011 7:26PM

The city is advising drivers not take Lake Street into downtown tomorrow as concrete will be poured to rebuild the intersection of Randolph and Upper Wacker as part of the Wacker Drive renovation project.

The logistics are pretty impressive: over 1,000 cubic yards of concrete will be poured to rebuild the intersection over eight hours starting at 8 a.m. 125 trucks will be hauling the concrete in. By the time it's over, the new concrete deck will be 13 inches thick. that's the equivalent of 18 city blocks of sidewalk.
