Happy Birthday Charlie!!!

122 years ago today Charlie Chaplin — arguably the most recognizable entertainer of the 20th Century — was born. Even today, Chaplin's iconic Tramp character is instantly recognizable with both film buffs and casual film lovers. Chaplin's movies featuring the Tramp, with their universal themes, still resonate nearly a century later.

Roger Ebert posted on his website an account of his two most memorable encounters with Chaplin that were originally published at the time of the actor's death on Christmas Day 1977 that capture the global admiration for the man during his final years. There are a few Chaplin fans on staff here; we have all the Chaplin features on DVD. So we thought we'd honor Chaplin's legacy today by bringing you video of one of his best short films, A Night in the Show, during his brief time making films for Chicago's Essanay Studios.
