Three Floyds' "Dark Lord Day" Doubles Down on Potential Deliciousness

2011_04_21darklordday.png As this year's Dark Lord Day (the yearly festival where beer lovers queue up for the one-day-only release of Three Floyds' special Russian Imperial Stout) fast approaches, more news is squeaking out about some super-specialty brews for this year's celebration.

Beernews.org is reporting that in addition to this year's demon brew, they'll be making available limited numbers of Brandy Barrel Dark Lord with Vanilla Beans and Bourbon Barrel Dark Lord in bottles. Other versions of Dark Lord are apparently going to be on draft, but details on those have not yet been released. The super-specialty bottles will be sold off via a lottery system, according to Three Floyds' sales manager, and the system will be "will be fair and completely random." Numerous other brewers will also be onsite for this year's ticketholder-only shindig (a response to DLDs in years past where things got, well, a little out of hand).

Our bet? Call us cynical, but those special releases will be on Ebay by the end of the afternoon, with bids well into triple digits. Following that, there will be days of complaints about how access to the beers was managed, no matter how fair FFF tries to make it. Not that there's precedent for that or anything.
