The latest in the ongoing saga Lakeview v. Wal-Mart finds the retailer agreeing the to a size limit for its proposed store.

The Southeast Lakeview Neighbors Association said earlier this week that they "negotiated a restrictive covenant" with owners and managers at the Broadway at Surf shopping center capping the size of a store there to 33,395 square feet and prevent them from expanding, while other retailers can sign larger leases in the center. The capped square footage is slightly larger than what Wal-Mart was proposing for Lakeview.

What happened to "not in my backyard," Lakeview? Wal-Mart, which isn't looking to set up barns throughout the city as it expands to Chicago, will take this. At this rate, people are going to protest their way into getting exactly what they didn't want.
