Morning Box Score: Cubs, Sox Enter Interleague Play on High Notes

By Chuck Sudo in News on May 20, 2011 3:05PM

Cubs 5, Marlins 1

The Cubs earned their first season sweep of the season thanks in part to Casey Coleman's 5.2 scoreless innings and timely hits from Marlon Byrd, Starlin Castro and Reed Johnson. Byrd and Castro each drove in two runs. The Cubs now head into interleague play today by heading to Boston (home of the most insufferable fanbase in Major League Baseball) to take on the Red Sox.

White Sox 8, Indians 2

The White Sox have Fausto Carmona's number. The Indians pitcher has given up 18 runs to the South Side Nine in two appearances against Chicago this season. Carlos Quentin hit his 9th home run of the season, a two-run shot off Carmona, in the fifth inning. Paul Konerko, Alexei Ramirez and Adam Dunn each drove in two runs to support Gavin Floyd's fifth win of the season. The White Sox draw the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight in interleague play at U.S. Cellular Field.
