Opening arguments begin today in the trial of Tahawwur Rana, one of two local men accused of conspiring in the 2008 Mumbai terrorism attacks that killed 160 people, including a Chicagoan.

Rana is accused of working with David Headley in helping to plan the attack and a plot to bomb a Danish newspaper that was not actualized. Headley has pleaded guilty to his charges and is expected to testify against Rana. Rana's trial is gathering a wide audience as it's expected to shed light on Pakistani security intelligence, which some have long regarded with skepticism.
