Man Threatens to Set Dog on Fire
A west suburban man who called police to report an unleashed dog went one step too far Tuesday. 53-year-old Daniel Maskill of Riverside was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and assault after he doused the dog in gasoline, threatened to set the dog on fire, then do the same to the dog's owner.
Riverside police responded to Maskill's call about the unleashed dog. But when they arrived at Harrington Park in Riverside, they found the dog soaked and Maskill raving. (It appears the dog wasn't the only beast that needed to be leashed.)
The dog's owner, 56-year-old Frank Perlongo of Lyons, was still cited for not having the dog on a leash.
