And the 9th Most Dangerous City in America Is...

Hint: it's not Chicago.

An in-depth study by 24/7 Wall Street has ranked Rockford, Illinois as the 9th most dangerous city in America. The rankings were decided by compiling data from calculating the number of crimes per 1,000 people (using FBI crime data from 2010) and ranking cities also by comparing median income and respective unemployment rates.

For starters, the report by 24/7 Wall Street found that Rockford has 14.5 instances of crime per 1,000 people, giving the city an "unusually high violent crime rates for a city of its size." The full top ten is ranked below:

1. Flint, Michigan
2. Detroit, Michigan
3. St. Louis, Missouri
4. New Haven, Connecticut
5. Memphis, Tennessee
6. Oakland, California
7. Little Rock, Arkansas
8. Baltimore, Maryland
9. Rockford, Illinois
10. Stockton, California

    Yeah, but doesn't the FBI tend to not include Chicago in their Big Crime Data Book!™ because Chicago reports its data weird? My memory is a bit fuzzy on this point.
