Restaurant News: Vote on the Pump Room's New Name, Lady Gregory Back on Track

pump room_0001.jpeg - The former Pump Room may be getting a new name. The new owner of the Ambassador East, Ian Schrager, has announced that the public will get to decide on the new name. The Sun-Times reports that the name will either be "The Pump Room" or "Gold Coast Kitchen," possibly the least inspiring name ever. We vote for Pump Room - keep the icon alive - and you can too. Votes will be taken online until June 22, at which time the name will be chosen.

- Lady Gregory, the Anderson Gastropub that burned down while it was still under construction, is back on track! After a fire in early March, the restaurant is set to open on June 13th, according to the Tribune. Kyle McHugh, formerly of Drinks over Dearborn and a friend of Chicagoist, is the beverage director, and has created a spirits program with over 300 whiskeys. The food seems basic, but the huge booze selection will attract nerds from all over Chicago.

Wow. My liver will be glad I moved out of Andersonville.

"Gold Coast Kitchen"? Seriously? Why not call it, "Place In Which To Purchase Food And Beverages To Consume" or "Restaurant At 1301 N. State Parkway, Chicago, IL" ?

    Lame.
