More Transparency by City Government

The salaries of every city employee weren't the only information the city placed online yesterday. Shortly after that bombshell came a bigger one - a spreadsheet listing 2011 appropriations, line by line.

As we wrote yesterday regarding Mayor Emanuel's decision to put the salaries online, if this is what he meant in his transition report when he said he wanted more transparency in government, it's an impressive beginning. After over two decades of the secrecy of Richard Daley, our minds are blown right now.
