"One for the Road:" RIP "Mr. Fabulous"

Jerry Garcia once told Rolling Stone writer Abe Peck the Blues Brothers were "too good to be a parody, and not good enough to be good for what it was." The "too good to be a parody" part lay in the backing band with Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn, Matt "Guitar" Murphy and a horn section that included trumpeter Alan Rubin. Rubin passed away last week from lung cancer. He had a prolific career as a session musician, but it was his time backing Aykroyd and Belushi as "Mr. Fabulous" for which he'll be best remembered.
