Alt-Media Slam Highlights Ed Bus Song-and-Dance Show

2011_6_14_ed_bus.jpg For an alderman whose ward boundaries encompass ten square feet of one of the most treacherous intersections in the city, Ed Bus sure does spend a lot of time away from the 51st Ward. While Bus is waiting to see if the Census and redistricting maps gerrymanders him out of the small island at Elston, Damen and Fullerton, he's taking the stage once again to reminds us that some of us still vote for men like him.

The Alderman Ed Bus Variety Show (and Neighborhood CAPS Meeting) will be held at Beat Kitchen 9 p.m. Thursday. The highlight of the CAPS meeting will be the return of the Alt-media Slam between Time Out Chicago, the AV Club Chicago, Gapers Block and us.

The last time an alt-media slam was held, Chicagoist won. Unlike the Reader, who won the alt-media slam in year one, we aren't going to give up the title without a fight. While Marcus Gilmer has moved on to the AV Club, we've already promised ourselves we won't let sentiment get in the way of a good old fashioned dozens contest. Come for the good-natured ribbing. Stay to watch an alderman become obsolete.
