Stray Peacock Rescued by Chicago Animal Care and Control

Chicago's Animal Care and Control gets a lot of odd calls about animals on the loose in Chicago, but Sunday's call of a stray peacock in Little Village made ACC officer Maryann Howard's day. Howard said she's never encountered a peacock before. Neighborhood residents were surprised as well, telling ABC7 News that they thought someone was playing a prank. "I jumped back, and I'm like, 'Why is a peacock outside the house?' I thought it was a prank. I thought it was fake. Then when I looked it was just sitting there looking like, 'When are you going to open the door?'" Clifford Kenniel said. "I'm like, 'It's an actual peacock? Are you serious?' And I had to put on my glasses 'cause I'm like, 'I can't see.' And when I put them on it was most definitely a peacock," Alexandria Wright said.

ACC isn't sure where the bird came from, but if nobody comes forward to claim him, he'll be sent to a peacock sanctuary.
