Royals 2, White Sox 1 (11 Innings)

John Danks looked good in his return from the DL but found himself in a pitching duel with Royals starter Bruce Chen. Danks pitched seven innings of shutout ball while Chen only gave up a fifth inning home run to Carlos Quentin. But the White Sox bullpen allowed the tying run to score in the eighth inning, sending the game into extras. Chris Sale put up a strong effort with three innings of relief work, but when Ozzie Guillen called for Sergio Santos, the Sox' closer promptly hurled a wild pitch, allowing Alex Gordon to score from third. The Sox are now 3-3 post-All Star break and following the exact same script they started the season, taking two of three from a good team only to lose two of three to the Royals.
