Rep. Gutierrez Arrested Outside White House

Fourth District Rep. Luis Gutierrez was arrested outside the White House about an hour ago. The longtime Democratic congressman was participating in an immigration protest and was placed in handcuffs when he refused to leave after being asked.

Prior to being arrested, Gutierrez told the Media Research Center, "I think (President Obama) should use the broad discretionary power that the laws have conferred upon him and make decisions, smart decisions" regarding immigration law and deportation. The full video from Media research Center is below.

  • While I admire the commitment of Rep. Gutierrez to this particular issue, there's something kind of pressing going on with his day job at this particular moment. I'd kind of rather him focus a little more on that. It's hard to contribute to debt negotiations from jail.

Meh, I'll be more impressed when he gets arrested when there are not cameras around. Every time I have met this guy I walked away feeling used. Even when we just shot the shit in the back of an airliner returning from DC.

He probably knows what most people who've been following along do:  Any Democrat who's not a right wing blue dog will have their economic suggestions completely ignored by this Wall St. infested White House.

  • And his response is to say "screw it" and let it go on without him? Weak.

  • Navin_Johnson

    False choice.

  • Then why did you present it?

  • ChicagoD

No, he just says that. Don't you realize that Navin is a bot?
