Wetter Than July

Those storms that lit up the sky last night not only had Twitter abuzz. They dropped more than enough rain on the area to break a 122-year-old record for rainfall in July.
The new record of 9.75 inches of rainfall recorded breaks the previous mark of 9.56 inches set in 1889. And with more storms projected later today, we have a good shot at passing 10 inches of rainfall.
This July is also the ninth-wettest month in Chicago history. These storms have kept residents throughout the area on alert for flooding and dealing with power outages for the past couple of weeks.
