What Will The Next One Book, One Chicago Book Be?

2011_071B1C.jpg The One Book One Chicago program is turning 10 this year, and to generate some buzz and intrigue about the next selection, Chicago Public Library is running a “Who Am I?” campaign. They’ve placed clues all around town. These posters and buttons have this dude on him. They’re asking people to report back where they’ve seen him by posting on Flickr. And they’re asking for your guesses as to who he might be. You can tweet your guess with the hashtag #1b1c and follow @1book1chicago to see what other people might be guessing.

They also have buttons available in button machines at Harold Washington Library Center and Sulzer Regional Library as well as some other locations throughout the city, so if you think this dude is really groovy, you can get one and add him to your messenger bag.

The book will be announced early August. Any thoughts as to what it might be?

Hey, I see this guy everywhere!

I'm going to go with something released in the 50s-60s because of the hairstyle/dress/pop art design.

  • The art reminds me a lot of all the little drawings in Generation X. I don't see them going with that, though. The '50s-'60s thing is probably on the right track.

I wish they gave some actual clues. It could be anything.

    Studs Lonigan?

Nah. Then you have to read the whole trilogy and you end up having to deal with race riots in the city.

Please let it be something other than The Fountainhead.

  • The Godfather. "I never wanted this for you, Rahm... I always thought you'd be Senator Emanuel, President Emanuel..."
