Heavy Rains Keep Water Taxis, Boats Docked

This month's record rainfall is having an unintended consequence on water taxi and tour boat traffic along the Chicago River. The Tribune reports high water levels from the rains kept tour boats and water taxis tied to their docks.

Shoreline sightseeing had no clearance under the bridges this morning and only one of the three water taxis was able to negotiate the river.

The Army Corps of Engineers were finally able to reduce river levels to allow tour boats and water taxie clearance at 11:30.
