2010_07_21_snoop.jpg After launching a successful youth football program in California, Snoop Dogg decided to bring the same program to Chicago. Snoop Dogg even made an appearance at the inaugural event yesterday, "dancing and high-fiving his way through a large crowd at the Chicago Indoor Sports Facility" and was "intent on meeting all the kids involved in the inaugural season of the city's Snoop Youth Football League."

Snoop Dogg said he was inspired by the energy of the youth he met yesterday, talking about how this program is intended to reach children with all sorts of backgrounds, including those in the most dangerous Chicago neighborhoods.

[Snoop Dogg] credited football, a sport he played growing up, with giving many kids in his California league the incentive to focus on their education and other aspects of their lives. He's hoping Chicago youth use the program to figure out what they want to do with their lives, and he's anxious to see how they respond.

"I want to give them something to fight for," he said of his intentions with the new league. "At the end of the day, they're our future."

The football league is open to Chicago youth ages 7 to 14. The program in California began in 2004 and now has eight chapters with more than 3,000 participants. The program in Chicago will start with six chapters and have around 1,500 participants. We're happy to see Snoop Dogg bring a lot of positivity to Chicago.
