That would be an awesome Rickroll, though.

  • JayP123

And does Savage think that, unlike the relatively few number of people in the world who personally know a Santorum, the people who know a Rick will not be subject to condemnation if they try to turn their friend's name into a slur?

Does Savage himself not know any other Ricks who might take offense?

This guy is becoming seriously unhinged.

  • matthannigan

Dan Savage is unhinged? What about the guy who equates gay sex with bestiality? Is that not 'unhinged'? And, as it has been pointed out, and I think it's pretty clear, but this is obviously a joke. My interpretation of it all is that, "Hey! Don't fuck with the gays!"

  • ChicagoD

"Funny or Die." I wonder why he'd be working with a group with a name like that? Hmmm.

  • JayP123

Yes, I can read the words on the screen. I'm not convinced it's parody.

  • ChicagoD

Wow. Really. You are aces consumer of humor!

Want me to explain that to you?

  • jhop79

Did the crying professional basketball player not convince you it was parody?

  • JayP123

"Lighten up, it's just a joke" is the first retreat of a bigot. As far as I'm concerned, when a guy goes on television and publicly asserts that he wants 1/3rd of the country's population to die because they're political opponents, he no longer gets the benefit of the doubt. This is parody in the same sense that a David Duke karaoke performance of "Nigga What Nigga Who" would be -- which is to say, it isn't.

  • ChicagoD

Yes. Of course, David Duke was not an entertainment professional making his living over time with humor. Dan Savage, on the other hand . . . wait. This is going to be lost on you.

  • JayP123

Since you would need to finish that thought with the blatantly untrue, "Dan Savage, on the other hand, doesn't engage in political activism" for the analogy to be proper, I understand completely why you're loathe to finish it.

  • ChicagoD

Oh yes, a humorist who is also an activist is EXACTLY the same as a racist politician. I am not loathe to finish the thought. You're getting your panties in a twist because you want to. Dan Savage is not going to try to steer google hits to a definition of "Rick" that would embarrass Rick Santorum (although, I have no idea what would embarrass Rick Santorum). You know that. I know that. This is all false indignation, and not very well done at that.

  • magooisim

ah, f me. I just realized he's a perma-troll. son of a bitch, i should know better than this. apologies internet.

  • magooisim

    yup. he lost it.

  • Ingridz

    I love this guy.
