Someone let their mylar balloon go off into the ether this morning, something that happens all the time. But this innocent little balloon knocked out power to 2,000 customers in Roscoe Village, including the Retro on Roscoe street festival. Power was quickly restored to most within the hour, but 700 customers were still out of power, as of about 1 p.m., according to WLS.

The outage was within the boundaries of Addison to Roscoe and Ravenswood to Western. The festival went on as planned, and no one was injured by the downed wire. A ComEd representative reminds us not to release balloons near electrical wires. And that kid is soooo grounded.
