The 2010 Census statistics indicate substantial population gains by Hispanics in Illinois and Chicago, not that you can tell from the recently redistricted maps approved in Springfield. Those numbers are only going to grow as the number of Latino children under 5 get older and become adults.

The Tribune notes that one out of every three children under the age of five in Cook County comes from a Hispanic ethnic background. 40 percent of Chicago's population under five is Hispanic. They've also built an online interactive map that shows where the population outlays are happening.
