Morning Box Score: Sox Get a Friendly Five, Homers Doom Cubs

Pencil in August 9 as the day the White Sox put together their first five-game winning streak of the season. Carlos Quentin and Brent Morel hit solo home runs, Morel added a second RBI and the Sox' bullpen blanked the Orioles the rest of the way to give Gavin Floyd his tenth win of the season. Sergio Santos earned his 24th save.

Nationals 3, Cubs 1

Matt Garza had another star-crossed night. Garza served up taters to Michael Morse and Jonny Gomes in the sixth inning to get tagged with the loss and give Nats starter Chien-Ming Wang his first win since 2009. Wang, who made his third start since having shoulder surgery, was dealing a no-hitter until Tony Campana broke it up with a single in the sixth inning. The lone Cubs run was a Starlin Castro home run in the eighth inning. Aramis Ramirez sat outlast night's game and is listed as day-to-day with back spasms.
