Afternoon Box Score: Cubs Hang On, Beat Nats
Ryan Dempster ran his record to 10-8 on the season with seven innings of one-run ball. But the bulllpen made it interesting late. Jeff Samardzija and Sean Marshall were ineffective, so Kerry Wood had to bail them out. then Carlos Marmol showed some lack of control in the ninth inning, but managed to pick up the save. Carlos Pena and Aramis Ramirez homered, while Alfonso Soriano hit an RBI triple to provide the offense.
