Darren Criss Street Team Releases Their Version of "World's Saddest Flash Mob" Video

Last week we heard it from fans of Glee and Darren Criss over what we called "the World's Saddest Flash Mob" at North Halsted Market Days. For about an hour or so.

Lindsay Carpenter of the Original Darren Criss Street Team - makes us wonder if there are imitators out there - shared with us the link to the official flash mob video. It shows the practice and dedication of the mob's participants, which we can respect. And Criss seemed to love it, so the flash mob participants shouldn't care what we think.

Does it change our opinion of the flash mob? No. If anything, things the video picks up such as people taking video and photos of Criss while he captures the flash mob on his iPhone and the guy in the crowd who jumps in and mimics the mob's dance routine almost step by step, without practice, we feel makes our case.

I just wanted to say I <3 this thread. Thank you, Darren Criss, for bringing such joy into my life!

  • Navin_Johnson

    Neil Hamburger, we need you!

  • Mimihaha

Look, these kids worked really hard on this, and Daryl really liked it, so what more is there to say?

So these kids can just go away now, right?

  • ChicagoD

Aw Chuck, we already played this game. There's got to be something else to troll with. These kids are about 100 posts past having anything interesting to say.

  • Yeah, but I was out of town and missed all the ... um, fun.

  • ReverendSlappy

This is really simple. Some people are going to like your flash mob thing. Some people aren't going to like it. Some people, who don't even care why or for whom you're doing it are going to just generally dislike the whole idea of flash mobs period.

They're just as entitled to their negative opinions of it as you are your positive opinions, and they don't owe it to you or anyone else to hold their tongue.

    Grow up.

  • I cant believe i am actually signing in on this site but well...

Those girls put a lot of effort in that flashmob. They dont need to validate themselves to some low grade reporter on the 'Chicagoist'. There are all forms of low and this article is the lowest level of it. Attacking people for what they love just so this stank website can get traffic is a tad desperate non?

To the lovely fangirls and boys of Darren Criss. He liked it and he is grateful. Keep promoting Darren in his career and ignore the rantings of the bitter, beer gutted failure of a 'journalist' that posted this article. Also remember this is the 'Chicagoist' not a real or reputable media site.

I'm a proud member of the DCST, and I'd like to say that this reviewer is an absolute idiot. They did a GREAT job. Wish I could be there with you guys!!

  • HOW D@RE YOU EVER CRITICIZE @NYTHING EVER! HOW D@RE YOU HAVE @N OPINION!!!

    I feel so marginalized.

  • Tap2323

This is such irrelevant journalism.  What is the purpose of critiquing a flash mob?

  • ChicagoD

BTW, you may not know this, but "criticism" is a journalistic end unto itself. Crazy world, right?

  • Tap2323

I don't know that I quite understood your comment.  However, criticism of a non-professional event does not constitute journalism.  The author should have reviewed one of the PROFESSIONAL musicians that performed at Market Days.  By this author's logic, we should be evaluating how fast volunteers walk during fundraisers for cancer research.

  • ChicagoD

Blogs also do not constitute "journalism" although criticism is a journalistic endeavor.

By the author's logic, they hated the flash mob performance and said so. That is all.

This was rehashed to generate comments. Chicagoist has had about twelve comments in the past week.

I think they need to start posting porn, or possible celebrity rumors. And I mean real celebs, not some hipster douche running a food cart. I mean people I might have heard about even I didn't want to.

This is a joke, BTW. I already have my porn and celeb pages all set.

  • Hey, think what you want. But-
We didn't do this for ourselves, we didn't do it for the audience, and we certainly didn't do it for you.
WE DID IT FOR DARREN. And he loved it. That's what really matters, isn't it?

  • LEAVE BRITNEY @LONE!!!!

Also, here's an introduction to something you'll start to learn once you're old enough to legally drink: I have no idea who Darren is, but I can say with complete assurance that he does not care that you did it for him. He only cares that you continue to give your parents' money to the advertisers that pay for his really bad TV show.

  • Think what you want. I'm pretty sure Darren knows what he cares about more then you do!

  • ChicagoD

You are a cynical, mean, entirely correct man.

  • Y'all have said "we did it for Darren" in various states of capitalization about 1,500 (okay, 50) times by now.

Don't you think that point has been made and is now dead and buried?

  • I would like to submit that that dude from the crowd actually makes this the best flash mob ever.

  • g h

    1) I really don't care about Glee
    2) I really have no idea who this Darren dude is

However, I think you are being @sshats for criticizing people for enjoying themselves in a perfectly healthy manner. Who cares if it's not something you would do personally?  Get over yourselves.
