Cubs 3, Cardnials 0

It may be a coincidence, but the firing of Jim Hendry seems to have lit a fire under the Cubs as Matt Garza got some offensive support to shut out the Cardnials 3-0 on Saturday. Garza pitched seven innings with eight strike outs and got his first home win since June. Looks like Quade and crew recognize the front office finally means business.

White Sox 3, Rangers 2

Carlos Quentin left the game in the first inning with a shoulder injury and was replaced by Alex Rios, who was booed as he walked onto the field. Rios has had a rough season and the fans showed their frustration with the slumpy Sox player. But when it came down to the wire Rios nailed a full-count pitched from Koji Uehara to get the deciding run for the White Sox. Even the worst case of the yips goes away after a while, even if it did take almost a whole season.
