Local Company Orders Salmon Recall
Chicago-based Vita Food Products has ordered a recall of over 8,000 packages of Atlantic smoked salmon.
CNN reports Vita's Classic Premium Sliced Smoked Atlantic Nova Salmon could contain Listeria monocytogenes an aggressive foodborne pathogen that targets older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and adults with weakened immune systems and, in some cases, may be fatal.
The company said in a statement that no confirmed cases of Listeriosis have been reported, but they're closely monitoring states where the salmon was sold. [Via]
