Minnesota 7, White Sox 6

The Twins hit Jake Peavy hard and fast. Consecutive doubles by Jason Repko, Trevor Plouffe and Joe Mauer set the tone for a six-run first inning capped by two-run homers from Jason Kubel and Luke Hughes. That seemed like it would be all the Twins would need but the Sox started clawing back. Bent Lillibriddge hit a two-run homer and Paul Konerko drove in three RBI, including two in a ninth inning comeback that fell short. Konerko's erstwhile heroics were sandwiched between strikeouts by Adam Dunn and Alex Rios to end the game.

Peavy settled down to retire 11 straight, but a Repko homer in the seventh inning off of Jason Frasor provided the margin of victory for Minnesota and tagged Peavy with the loss.

The Sox also lost ground in the AL Central as Detroit beat Kansas City this afternoon.
