It's New to Us: Choose Chicago's "Think Big" Promotional Video

By Chuck Sudo in News on Sep 1, 2011 7:20PM

Our good friends at Gapers Block linked to the video below this morning. It's a three-minute promotional video from the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau featuring Grant Achatz. Charlie Trotter, John Mahoney, Mike Ditka and Billy Corgan.

The video is a play on the Daniel Burnham quote about making no small plans, which was our first sign this wasn't a new video: that was also the previous slogan for the Convention and Tourism Bureau. They announced a new slogan - "Second to None" - in June.

There were other signs that made us think this was an older video. for instance, Achatz's hair was shorter. (Corgan was still bald.) So we pulled out our Google shovel and started digging.

We discovered the video first debuted two years ago in conjunction with the Burnham Plan Centennial.

The Convention and Tourism Bureau produced the video, using only Burham's words as the script.

Two years later, it still stands as an amazing video tribute to Burnham and the city.
