Morning Box Score: Buehrle Roughed Up Again, Mets Slip Past Cubs

By Chuck Sudo in News on Sep 10, 2011 2:30PM

Cleveland 8, White Sox 4

Mark Buehrle was roughed up for a second straight game. Buehrle was tagged for seven runs, four of those on a sixth inning grand slam by Lonnie Chisenhall, as he only lasted 5-2/3 innings. Buehrle's future with the team is uncertain and his streak of consecutive seasons with at least 200 innings pitched, 30 starts made and double-digit victories is in jeopardy - he needs two starts and 14 innings to reach the first two numbers. On the bright side, Paul Konerko drove in his 98th run of the season and is a lock to reach 100 RBI.

Mets 5, Cubs 4

The Cubs guaranteed themselves a losing record last night after squandering a 3-0 lead after four innings and tying the game at 4 in the ninth inning. Justin Turner's ground-rule double to center field scored Jason Pridie to give the Mets a win and tag Sean Marshall with the loss. Carlos Pena hit a two-run home run for the Cubs.
