2011_9_12_playboy_october_retro.jpg The October issue of Playboy is shaping up to be pretty popular, mainly because of the sixty-cent cover price.

That's the same price the magazine sold for in 1961, which also the year in which NBC's upcoming television series The Playboy Club is set. It's also the year the first Playboy Club opened.

Playboy Club and Tony Award winner Laura is on the cover of the issue and is also featured in an interview and pictorial.

The entire issue is something of a throwback to that year in the company's all out blitz to promote the show. Playboy's editors have designed this issue to have a retro feel, with a 10-page spread on the original "Bunnies" who worked at the club and images from the clubs.

All this cross-promotion between the magazine and tv show is also shaping up as an example of the licensing of the Playboy brand Hugh Hefner is hoping will put the company on terra firma.
