Afternoon Box Score: Tigers Sweep Sox Again
Detroit 6, White Sox 5 (10 Innings)
Did Detroit earn this victory? Did the White Sox give a win away? Both, actually. Rookie Dylan Axelrod was in line for his first major league victory with the Sox leading 5-2 in the ninth inning. Then the bullpen screwed the pooch. Chris Sale and Sergio Santos gave up home runs in the ninth to give Detroit a new life in extra innings. Santos then gave up the game-winning hit, a single by Guillen that scored Will Rhymes. Paul Konerko reached 100 RBI with a two-run single in the second inning. Alexei Ramirez drove in two runs and Gordon Beckham added an RBI.
