Machinedrum, Chrissy Murderbot Bring Bass to Smart Bar Tomorrow

2011_machinedrum.jpg When it comes to bridging the gap between dance music and more esoteric forms of electronica, Brooklyn-based Machinedrum is a special talent. Born Travis Stewart, Machinedrum has been releasing music for over a decade under many different guises, but it seems that now he is truly hitting his stride. His latest LP, Room(s), is a multi-layered journey into juke, ghettotech, dubstep, ambient, and IDM, and it stands as one of the best electronic albums of 2011. He, along with Chrissy Murderbot, Jeekoos, and BRC, will be taking over Smart Bar tomorrow night as part of the "Red Bull Music Academy Presents" series.

What one can expect Thursday is a healthy array of those forms of bass music that have started to gain more notoriety during the past year. UK funky, dubstep, juke, et al will undoubtedly be represented, and will carry significant weight flowing out of Smart Bar's sound system. Chrissy Murderbot, who has been supporting Machinedrum on his current tour, adds additonal "oomph" to this bill, which should result in a orgiastic feast of all things low end.
