The Wise Kids to Open Reeling Film Festival
Via filmmaker Stephen Cone's Facebook page, we've learned that his feature The Wise Kids has been chosen as Opening Night film of Reeling 2011: The 30th Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival.
The drama, which revolves around a group of kids coming of age in a Southern town, has already been the recipient of many kudos on the GLBT festival circuit as well as a rave review in Variety, which pronounced, "With a brilliant cast of young actors and a growing array of fest prizes, the pic has more than a prayer with theatrical and vid congregants." The movie was filmed in South Carolina and Chicago.
The 30th anniversary edition of Reeling will unspool November 3-12. The rest of the lineup hasn't been announced yet.
