Robert Lyons (DuPage County Sheriff's Office)
A Carol Stream man who allegedly brutally murdered his mother because she wouldn't call a friend to get him skybox seats to a 2008 Avril Lavigne concert is having his moment in court. We had to check the date of the headline to make sure we weren't being played.

39-year-old Robert Lyons is accused of hitting his mother Linda Bolek in the head with a champagne bottle and stabbing her so hard the knife broke off inside her body. (Shit!)

Lyons allegedly tried to establish an alibi after, calling several friends to say Bolek fell on the knife while trying to attack him. (The two had a volatile relationship and Bolek was believed to have taken a knife to Lyons before.) He poured household cleaners on her body, changed clothes and was later arrested at a Schaumburg Hooters.

Lyons has a history of bi-polar disorder, but DuPage County Asst. State’s Attorney Ann Celine O’Hallaren told jurors the murder was premeditated.
