2011_9_19_PTI.jpg Social Media Week Opening Night Party

Today kicks off Social Media Week in Chicago and other cities around the globe. (We'll have more on Social Media Week later.) Tonight Billy Dec of Rockit Bar and Grill is hosting a Social Media Week "Opening Night" party at Rockit's River North location (22 W. Hubbard St.). The event is free to attend, but only after 9 p.m.

Fixed Price Dinners

$20 doesn't go a long way these days but it will get you an appetizer, entree and a glass of wine at Schubas' Harmony Grill. It's their new Monday night special (they choose the wine).

World Music Fest Continues

We're halfway through World Music Festival: Chicago 2011 and tonight's recommended free event at the Chicago Cultural Center is Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino. This Italian outfit plays pizzica, featuring drums, violin, guitar, bass, tamburello, accordion, flute, Italian bag pipes, harmonica and vocals to form a sound full of energy, passion, rhythm and mystery. They'll get things going at the Cultural Center's Claudia Cassidy Theater at 7 p.m.

Billy Dec? I lose interest the second his name is mentioned. Our city's premier douchebag gadfly. Is it at all possible to have an event in this city without this tool?
He is a self-promoting ass and his restaurants suck.
