The 1985 Bears were supposed to be receive the traditional White House welcome after winning Super Bowl XX but their appearance had to be canceled after the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion sent the nation into mourning. Members of the '85 Bears have said they would love some closure and get the White House lawn treatment they never received.

Pencil in Oct. 7 for another dose of '85 Bears nostalgia. Although it hasn't been announced by the Bears, the White House, or the '85 World Champs, President Obama Is set to give them what they've been missing all those years.

The reception will be bittersweet as Walter Payton and Dave Duerson have both passed away and cornerback Mike Richardson has had his problems with the law. Here at Chicagoist we've been vocal proponents of giving up the ghost when it comes to the '85 Bears, but even we can admit this is long overdue.

Start getting revved up, Bears fans.
